Notes:

Ashburnham's name appears in John Hutchin's History of Dorset; in Geoff Newman's "Family History of Ashburnham Cecil Newman"; and in Burke's Commoners p112.

Even though he predeceased his cousin Frances Newman and his elder brother Edmund, it was his three sons who (in turn) inherited the bulk of Frances's estates including Thornbury Park in Gloucestershire and Preston Hall in Northhamptonshire.

Robert Newman's Newman One-Name Study gives conflicting information about Ashburnham's sons, showing them as: Richard 1752 - 1829 (as above), and James 1767 - 1811. It appears that the James he refers to was actually Charles Toll's son James who captained HMS Hero. This seems to be confirmed by Frances Newman's will which refer to " James Newman Toll the Son of the said Charles Toll".
