* From an unnamed source handed down to me from my father.
The 1851 Yeovil census gives William as an articled clerk, 19 years old, and living at Hendford Manor. From this we can deduce that he was born in 1832 and that he trained in his father's firm (and presumably spent his career there). His birth date is confirmed in the unnamed source that came to me from my father, which gives his birth date as 26 Jan 1832. The same source also gives his wife as "Edith Alford (daughter of Mrs Thomas Lyons) at Sherborne. His widow afterwards married Michael Lewis Browne (Mr Thos Moore's brother) died at Bishop Stanton, Devon".
From John Newman May 2002: "William. b.1831 Sherborne 1842-1849. became a solicitor in London. Died before 1900".
I deduce that William died without issue before his father (1885) because he is not mentioned in his father's will. I can find no sign of him in the 1871 census.
