According to information passed on to me by Ian Caldwell, "Colonel William Cope of Icomb in Gloucestershire, married Lady Elizabeth Fane, widow of Sir John Cope, the third baronet, she lived from 1610-10/10/1669. Colonel William Cope obtained the manor of Icomb in 1654. He lived from 1612-1691. A memorial plaque on the wall of the south transept of the parish church of St.Mary the Virgin at Icomb commemorates these two and at the bottom of the lengthy inscription are these words: "Lady Elizabeth deceased ye 10th day of October Anno 1669. The sd. Will Cope dyed the 7th day of August 1691, who left 33 pounds per annum to poorest uses in Icomb and Stow out of lands in his manor of Icomb, Anno Aetas Sue 79."
